From Mrs. Hirsch -
This month, Churubusco Jr-Sr High School would like to spotlight two student leaders: Senior Jessa Debolt and Junior Reese Minthorn.
Reese is a member of our New Era Show Choir and cheer team, and she has taken on extra tasks with our squad this year. She is the first student we have asked to pilot using ParentSquare to communicate with her team. She regularly posts weekly game day information, and she has posted videos that include step-by-step moves and words to their cheers and chants as a way to teach new and younger squad members. Reese also is a member of our Student Council and has supported Mrs. Egly and her peers in all their school projects and activities. Since meeting her, I have been impressed with Reese's constant drive to bring activities, events, and ideas to my attention. In fact, it was Reese's well-organized and thoughtful proposal that I approved for our new senior parking spots. Reese is an exceptional leader and asset to our building. I love that she is never afraid to ask questions or bring me her ideas and opinions because she truly is proud to be an Eagle.
Jessa is our Student Council President, and while I have acknowledged our Student Council as a whole on many occasions, it is important that I give Jessa an extra shout-out. Jessa works closely with Mrs. Egly and other adults in the building to constantly think of ways to engage students. This year, it was my goal, along with Mrs. Egly, to develop a true leader for our students at events. Jessa has stepped into that role and has brought different groups of students together to share ideas and show their support of our teams and programs. Even though the year is just getting started, Jessa has already proposed several ideas and made plans for events throughout the year. Jessa's humor and heart are appreciated by both adults and students, because she is willing to go above and beyond to support everyone. Her Busco Pride is evident in all she does, and our school is better because of her leadership and dedication.
Both Reese and Jessa demonstrate great leadership and school spirit. Because of their efforts, our hope of creating and continuing a positive, welcoming, and fun school culture is happening.
